Name: Alexia (Lia) Askelöf.

Hometown: Norrtälje.

Education: Elementary school in Norrtälje, two years at upper secondary school directed in animal keeping in zoo parks, and graduated after two more years directed in media (2009). STCW courses; Basic Safety Training and Crowd and Crisis Management (2008). Currently studying to become a dog instructor at Hundens Hus, Stockholm.

Languages: Swedish (Scandinavian), English and Icelandic.

Experience: I’ve been working for five years at Skansen-Akvariet (Stockholm) as an animal keeper, in the therapy-corner and the entrance/souvenir shop. This is my fifth year at Gentle Giants, both guiding and doing various work in land, such as updating website, design, training staff etc.

Interests: Loads of things! I enjoy nature, training my border collie, horseback riding, travelling, SCUBA diving, spending time with family and friends, to see new places and meet new people … you name it.

Favourite Icelandic food: Fresh fish from Skjálfandi bay, caught with my own bare hands.

Favourite foreign food:  Our homemade Swedish meatballs.

Favourite band / singer: I listen to more or less all kinds of music.
