HUMPBACK WHALES COMBINED WITH SUNSHINE

When Sylvia left the harbour this morning it promised to become a sunny trip and everyone on board was really motivated to find some of the whales that we have had in the bay during the last days.

GREAT WEATHER, GREAT WHALES

Sunshine, southerly winds and flat sea. Those were the whale watching conditions during the last days - just perfect, and we hope that it stays like this!Fortunately have not only been lucky with the weather, but also with the whales.

CUTTING DOWN TO ONE

September has so far been a really autumny month where both weather and whales have come and gone. Mainly minkes and dolphins have been spotted. Tomorrow, 16th September, we will cut down to only one daily whale watching departure; 9:45. Amma Sigga does not go on any scheduled tours but is still available for tailor made excursions.

SAILING AGAIN AFTER STORM

The Icelanders call it “bræla” when big waves and strong winds make it nearly impossible to go out to sea. We have experienced a real autumn storm during the last days but went out today and had a for the conditions a successful trip with minkes and dolphins.

PROMISING START OF SEPTEMBER

The first days of September have already past and the whales are still in Skjálfandi Bay. Both humpbacks and minkes could be seen during the trips. The whales have been very calm, while resting on the surface, and they let the boats come very close.

WHALE WATCHING IN SEPTEMBER (1)

August has been a great whale month! We have had six different species coming and going in the bay and been lucky enough to spend time with the big and beautiful humpbacks on nearly every tour. We enter the first autumn month tomorrow and when we will cut down to two whale watching departures daily.

GG AIM: TO RAISE INTEREST

It feels so good when passengers come back up to the Ticket Centre after a tour just to share their stories, to tell us how happy they are that they went or walk past with a smile on the face and two thumbs up.

AMAZING CONDITIONS FOR END OF AUGUST

We call it a jackpot when all the whales showed by the guide in the beginning of the tour are seen during the trip. Today Guide Daniel - just before they were back into harbour from the 8:45 tour - got the privilege to show his passengers all the whales again which he introduced in the beginning.

HONEYMOONERS ON BIG WHALE SAFARI

Scott and Monica Buechler from USA decided to go for Big Whale Safari with us on their 12-day honeymoon. They saw both a blue whale and humpbacks from onboard our RHIB Amma Sigga the other day. That is what we call a successful safari.
