HÚSAVÍK FESTIVAL 24th – 30th July 2006
Today the HÚSAVÍK FESTIVAL began in Husavik and will be going on this week. The Húsavík Festival is actually a celebration of two local festivals:
-SWEET DAYS (Mærudagar) is a local celebration of family and friends and is usually held the second weekend of August.
-SWEDISH DAYS is a festival held in the honorary memory of the first real settler of
This year those to fantastic celebrations have been put together into a one big HÚSAVÍK FESTIVAL!
During this week many miscellaneous activities, organised by various companies and organisations - including GENTLE GIANTS, will take place in Husavik ... both of Swedish culture and of course Húsavík culture.
VIKING CRUISE, LIVE MUSIC, CIRCUS CIRKÖR, MARIMBA PERCUSSION, SWEDISH GLASS EXHIBITION, SEA-ANGLING COMPETITION, AMUSEMENT PARK, FIREWORKS, CAMPFIRE, DOG SHOW, OPEN-AIR-MARKET, MARATHON, SWEDISH ACCORDION MUSIC, GO-CART, ART WORKSHOP, GOLF TOURNAMENT, FORTUNE TELLER, KUBB-VIKING CHESS, HIKING ... and much more during HUSAVIK FESTIVAL this week 24th - 30th July 2006!!!
