June Arrives: New Departures Added

The first month of the whale watching season 2007 has gone by and one can certainly say that the month of May was a good start of the season – despite some days of rough weather conditions. In May five species of whales were spotted in the bay – from the smallest harbour porpoises to the mighty blue whales!

From June 1st several departures will be added to our whale watching schedule. Tours depart daily at 9:45, 13:15, 16:45 and our evening tours at 20:15. We recommend early booking, either by phone (+354 4641500), e-mail ([email protected]) or online.

Húsavík will be very lively at the weekend – firstly, the weather forecast is very good for North Iceland, with temperatures reaching up to 20°C and sunny!
The first Sunday in June is the so called “Seaman’s day”, which is a holiday for seamen. A lot of events will take place, mostly on the harbour area. Also at the weekend is the 100 year birthday celebration of our beautiful church in Húsavík – which was consecrated June 2nd 1907. More information about events at the weekend, click here.
