SAFETY TRAINING BY GG CREW
Safety training is an important part by GG, and our staff is trained in safety and survival by the Maritime Safety and Survival Training Centre of Iceland (MSSTC).
Earlier this month GG crew members attended courses by the MSSTC, onboard the training vessel Sæbjörg. Participants were trained in various fields of maritime safety - basic fire-fighting, first aid, personal survival and personal safety and social responsibility. The courses involved a lot of practical exercises, such as handling life rafts and survival suits, rescue by helicopter with the Icelandic Coast Guard and fire-fighting.
Both captains and guides attended the courses, which are a requirement according to the STCW code and have to be renewed every 5 years.
