BREACHING MINKE WHALE

This morning something amazing and totally unexpected happened on our morning trip. Weather conditions were not the nicest ones for our passengers - cold, wind, rain and choppy sea – but they were all very positive and optimistic and wanted to see some whales. We headed south-west thinking about going to the same area where some minke whales had been spotted the previous days. Just 15 minutes from the harbour, the guide spotted a big “splash” around one thousand meters away from the boat. She decided to keep looking although she thought it could have just been a big breaking wave. After a few seconds the whole body of a minke whale came out of the water. All the passengers kept looking very excited and not expecting something like this to happen. The animal went on jumping and jumping several times just some meters from the boat.

We are not used to seeing minke whales breaching – it happens once in a while. Those on board Faldur were lucky today.

By the way! Weather is supposed to be very nice for tomorrow. All welcome.....
