STAFF PARTY BY GENTLE GIANTS

Last week Gentle Giants’ staff decided to join and celebrate season and summer 2008. Some of our team members will leave soon so it was the last chance to meet and do something all together. We decided to go to Flatey Island, our little paradise in Skjálfandi Bay. We started our trip by having a small snack: dried fish and putrefied shark – 2 Icelandic specialities no foreigners should skip tasting! After some laughs and weird faces when tasting the food we went by tractor to the house Stefan and his family own on the island. Beautiful and cosy wooden house kept and maintained with the effort of the family members.

After that we had a barbecue – a chef from Salka restaurant prepared a nice dinner for us – salad, potatoes and Icelandic lamb. Finally we all joined together for a nice sing-along we discovered we have some talents in the group – 2 guitar players (Peter and Hlynur), 3 nice voices (Stefan, Lia & Danny), some gymnasts (Peter, María, Lia), a belly dancer (Sigrún), someone specialised in loosing her glasses (Nuri – it’s the second or third time this summer she loses them – don’t worry, we don’t know how she is doing but she is finding the whales anyway!!), etc.

Everyone was tired on the way back home on Athena (thanks Alli for keeping you awake and bringing as back to town “safe and sound”). It was a very nice evening, slightly dark as long bright days are giving way to some hours of shadow announcing that the summer will soon come to and end.

Thanks to all the staff for the nice job done this summer.
