BLASTING SEASON START
Our first trip of the season was indeed very memorable – far better than what we had expected! As we always say to our passengers: “Keep the expectations low until something is spotted. This is nature and nature is unpredictable”.
This morning guide Daniel and captain Bessi & Alli ventured out to
After sailing for a short time, the crew and passengers spotted a big blow in the distance. They couldn’t believe their own eyes and were thrilled of joy. The first humpback whale of the season had been found!
The humpback was feeding and swimming calmly close to the boat. Minke whales were also seen along with lots of sea birds, including puffins.
This is a good start of the season and hopefully a sign of a great summer ahead ...

Let the photos speak for themselves. They were taken this morning by Pieter Haringsma, a photographer:
The first humpback of the season.
Raising its fluke before a deep dive.
Every humpback has their own pattern under their fluke - "fingerprints". Therefore it is easy to identify them and we will indeed observe if this one will be a regular visitor in the bay.
Minke whales are very common in Icelandic waters and frequent sightings on our tours.
Happy passengers in front of Faldur after a great tour! The Haringsma family: Pieter, Ellen, Marthe, Wieke and Carlyn, along with their guide Daniel Annisius.
