SEAMEN'S DAY IN ICELAND

Iceland
dedicates first weekend in June to all sailors and seamen in the country celebrating what is called “Sjómannadagurinn” (Seamen’s day). There are several activities held in most of the towns, cities and villages in the country. Also in Húsavík where some boats full of locals went out this morning for a short tour in Skjálfandi. Rowing races, games for kids and even a rescue demonstration are taking place in the harbour today among other activities.

We wish a happy weekend to all those fishermen, sailors, members of the rescue teams and to all those who somehow make their living out of sea. Also to their families - who in Húsavík doesn’t know or is related to someone working in the fishing industry? Without forgeting about our captains, most of them on duty not only during the summer months - on the whale watching boats - but also during the winter - going out fishing. We admire and appreciate your job. Gleðileg hátið !!
