RESCUE DRILL
Finally the four days of storm are over and the whale watching is running again as scheduled. Some dunes are left on the bay, as a reminder of the bad weather which has now passed. Autumn brutally hit Húsavík.
Yesterday the crew members of Gentle Giants decided to use the time of cancelled trips for a rescue drill. We prepared for what to do in situations which are not allowed to occur - in case of emergency.
We threw life rings, rescued each other and went over safety plans. The guides got to practise how to steer the boat in case something would happen to the captain (to avoid stranding or collisions). Good exercises to practise - even though we hope that we never for real have to use what we trained yesterday.
