TOP HUMPBACK ENCOUNTERS
This morning I had one of my best humpback encounters so far this summer. After spending some time with a minke whale, I spotted a big blow in the distance. The humpback was found. When we approached the animal it appeared to be very calm and not bothered at all with our presence.
We spent some quality time out there with the humpback while it was swimming under and along our boat – so close that we could even see its white long flippers clearly underwater. The humpbacks are actually known for having the longest flippers, which can reach up to five metres in length.
The weather conditions were absolutely fantastic, cold but calm and sunny. Nice September morning out on Skjálfandi bay.
