FEAST ON NATURE BUFFET
Not all whales migrate away from the cold Icelandic winters. One example of this is Grundarfjörður fjord, on the west coast of Iceland, which has been in the news lately because of big number of whales.
For some days now, the bay has been full of life. Big pods of orcas have been feeding in the bay together with minke whales, dolphins and harbour porpoises. Thousands of seabirds have also been spotted. Locals have never witnessed such a thing before.
According to the West-Iceland Institute of Natural History, the most likely reason is the amount of herring in the fjord. The wildlife scene is visible from land and has attracted many visitors.
Maybe those animals will make their way to Skjálfandi bay one day? Will you be there to watch them?
