WHALE WATCHING AND MOVIE MAKING

The conditions today were the best possible for both whale watching and movie making. A bit cold maybe, but it is still only April after all...

Onboard Faldur we had little groups of passengers from Sweden, USA, Turkey and Singapore plus a Finnish film team making a documentary about adventures in Iceland.

Together we crossed a calm and sunny Skjálfandi Bay and were sailing along the beautiful mountains when the first minke whale appeared, feeding. Then a second one. We admired them and the film crew got the footage they had wished for, and during amazing conditions.

All in all we watched three minke whales, a passing group of harbour porpoises and loads of birds. It was a really good day!

The documentary will be produced in two versions; English and Finnish. Eleven episodes – eleven countries. They will both be broadcasted sometime in October 2011. We wish Jani, Arto and Jan-Erik all the best with their production!
