FOG - BUT WE FOUND THE FLUKE
When looking out of the window this morning I saw what no whale watching guide wants to see; the thickest fog you can imagine.
Our passengers were optimistic and wanted to take the chance despite our warnings and meant that ”One thing is for sure: We won't see any whales if we stay on dry land”. Said and done.
We entered Skjálfandi Bay surrounded by a milky cloud, but after hand it started lifting. The sea was flat and the visibility getting better. Then suddenly – a blow! It was the humpback everyone had dreamt of but not dared to expect.
This shows how fast the conditions can change and how lucky we sometimes are. Captain Bessi and I got to spend more time with the humpback in the afternoon (13:15 trip) when all the fog had gone away and the sun shone through.
