ACROBATIC HUMPBACK

Humpbacks are known for being playful and my passengers onboard Faldur certainly witnessed that today.

When leaving Húsavík harbour, fog was crawling into the bay. We went out with no expectations but as always, did our very best to try to find whales.

After looking at a minke whale, we headed further north to an area where a humpback whale had been seen earlier. We sailed for a long time without any success – until a big splash from a jumping humpback appeared just in front of us!

This humpback kept on breaching and breaching, flipper slapping, lob tailing and breaching again. We spent some quality moments with it, witnessing the whale watcher’s dream of a jumping humpback.
