WHALE WATCHING FOR FUN

“Today is a beautiful summer day in Húsavík and I thought that going whale watching would be a great way to spend my afternoon." said Stefán Guðmundsson, director of Gentle Giants.

He continued: "Two humpbacks were swimming together, circulating the boat. One had white spots and big scars all over the body. It’s an individual which we’ve seen in the bay for several days. They came so close, one metre away or so and I’m always amazed by their size, beauty and power.

What I'm also fascinated by is the wonderful scenery around Skjálfandi Bay. On many whale watching locations in the world you have to go out on the open ocean to find whales. Here they come in to us and wherever you turn you always have a nice background to your whale photos” Stefán said and smiled after joining the 13:15 whale watching tour today – just for fun.
