LAST CHANCE TO MEET THE PUFFINS
Only a few minutes from Húsavík there is an island called Puffin Island, and the name is for a reason of course. Around quarter of a million puffins nest in our bay and during the summer this island is completely crowded with those funny little birds - but only for one or two more weeks to come...
Our RHIB Amma Sigga takes you there in only a few minutes during our Puffins Exclusive tour. The pufflings are getting older now and it is soon time for our funny “little priests” to migrate to the open ocean where they spend their winters.
The south of Iceland has been very unlucky with puffins this year. Probably because of lack of sand-eels which is the puffin's favourite food. Here, in Skjálfandi, we have a very good puffin year and it seems like we got all the little clowns which did not think it was worth it staying in the south.
