AMAZING CONDITIONS FOR END OF AUGUST
We call it a jackpot when all the whales showed by the guide in the beginning of the tour are seen during the trip. Today Guide Daniel - just before they were back into harbour from the 8:45 tour - got the privilege to show his passengers all the whales again which he introduced in the beginning.
They had all been spotted; Harbour porpoises, white-beaked dolphins, minke whales and humpback whales. The funny-looking northern bottlenose whales have also been seen in the bay today. Go to Whales of Skjálfandi to get to know them all better.
The sea is calm and the weather will stay nice according to the weather forecast. The conditions have also been perfect whale-wise lately - unusually good for being the end of August.
This is what Peter, guide onboard Sylvía yesterday, exclaimed; “Today I saw everything a humpback can do; fluking, lobtailing, pec-waving, pec-slapping, breaching AND spy-hopping! What an awesome humpback!”.
