WHALE-FEST IN ENGLAND
Gentle Giants always wants to improve and develop to offer better service to passengers and not at least to minimize the impact on the environment. We are aiming on making our whale watching as sustainable as possible.
So when the question was put if we wanted to attend WhaleFest there was no doubt. Daniel and I got the honour to represent Gentle Giants during this festival which was held in Brighton&Hove, south England, last weekend. It turned out to be a success with more than 2500 entrance tickets sold (plus hundreds of free children's tickets). The organisers, Ian and Dylan, are the two inspiring men behind Planet Whale - the world's biggest search engine for whale tours online.
It started on Friday with a workshop where chosen whale and dolphin watch operators from all over the world came together, sharing experiences and ideas to learn about how to improve and make our whale watching more sustainable.
On the Saturday and Sunday WhaleFest was open for the public. It was much like a fair, held on two floors in the Hove Centre. Gentle Giants had a stand where we presented our company and welcomed everyone who was interested to talk about whales and share experiences. There was also a programme full of interesting talks, events and workshops.
Back from England we brought with us new ideas about how to improve and make our whale watching even better both for the whales, their habitat and for our customers.

During the Friday's workshop Daniel and I held a presentation about
"How Gentle Giants minimises the impact on the marine environment”...
...in front of other whale watch operators from all over the world.
All there to learn about how to improve and make whale watching more sustainable.
On the Saturday and Sunday WhaleFest was open to the public.
Here I am, talking whales and tours with people who are interested.
Only one of the organiser's funny ideas; The Blubber Belly. Symbolising the tummy of a sperm whale.
One of the great workshops during the weekend. British Divers Marine Life Rescue demonstrating how stranded whales are rescued. Anyone who wanted could participate.
The preparations for WhaleFest 2012 is already in the process so for you
enthusiasts who missed it this time, you will get a new chance next year!
