ANIMALS IN GOOD FOOD MOOD
Skjálfandi Bay seems to be very attractive to many whales right now. During the last days we have watched two to five humpback whales on every trip together with up to four minke whales.
Four of the humpback whales have already stayed in the bay for a week, two of them even longer. Yesterday a very active one was tail-slapping for a long time - probably communicating with other humpbacks in the bay.
Also the minke whales seem hungry. Yesterday two of them were feeding on the surface just in front of the boat. They were surrounded by a huge amount of screaming birds such as northern fulmars, arctic terns and kittiwakes who also wanted their share of the food.
With other words; LOADS of life in our bay those days.
