PEACEFUL AND SUCCESSFUL WHALE WATCHING

The bay has become very peaceful during the last days. Nearly no wind was blowing, which made the sea flat and the conditions perfect for finding whales. On all our trips several humpback whales, minke whales and harbour porpoises have surrounded the boats.

The humpback whales have been as calm as the conditions in the bay. They were swimming slowly and constantly coming up to the surface to breathe before going down for another dive. Sometimes they were even too lazy to raise their flukes during deep dives. Nevertheless passengers aboard could enjoy the relaxed giants close to our boats, hear their breaths, see the long white flippers shining through the surface and admire beautiful huge flukes every now and then.

In contrast to the humpbacks the porpoises and the mikes were active, swimming around and changing directions a lot. Sometimes they also came close to the boats so that we could have a good look at them.

According to the forecast the weather is supposed to be as nice as the last days at least until the end of the week. Whale-wise there is unfortunately no prediction possible. Let’s cross our fingers and simply hope for the best.
