FASTER, BIGGER, CLOSER
At first we had the honour to watch two blue whales – the biggest animals that have ever lived on earth. When we arrived in the area where the whales were swimming around, something extraordinary happened – one of the blue whales was raising the fluke out of the water before its deep dive! The next 45 minutes we had a great time with those two Ocean Giants. One of them came once up to the surface only 5 metres away from the boat. Breath-taking for everyone aboard of small Amma Sigga.
After enjoying the blue whales, we were heading into the bay and looked for our common gentle giants – the humpback whales. It didn’t take very long until we succeeded. The humpback we had found was so relaxed and long on the surface that we were able to get it extremely close and in the end a gap of one metre separated us from each other. Unbelievable!
Later on even a second humpback appeared and allowed us to come close.
In the end everything was completed by a wonderful sunset when we went back to the harbour of Húsavík.
