PERFECT TOURS THE LAST DAYS

Finally, after four days of horrible weather and all trips cancelled we could go out again yesterday. Many passengers had to wait for many days to be able to join us. Some even changed their travel plans or came back from far away; just to get the chance to encounter the giants of Skjalfandi Bay. And lucky we were!

Yesterday the weather was perfect again. With a blue and clear sky, no wind and an unlimited view we headed out of Húsavík harbour at 9:45 and 13:15. The mountains were covered in snow. It was worth going out for the scenery itself.

But also whale-wise it turned out to be wonderful trips. There were still literally TONS of whales around – up to eight humpback whales and at least three minke whales. Some of them came so close they almost touched the boat. Since the water was extremely clear, we could see the whole whale shining through it, even though it was not right by the surface.

Today's 9:45 tour was quite a good one too, with still three humpback whales around the boat and a minke as well.

For some reason the big whales such as the humpbacks stay longer in the bay this year. We do not know why, but it is good for everyone who is around and eager to see some of these amazing and breathtaking creatures.

Our passengers have experienced close-up humpback encounters during the last days.
