JANUARY WHALE WATCHING
Even though our whale watching season normally stretches from April-October, we are still open for special arrangements...
Today a couple from Russia contacted us and wanted to go whale watching. Two hours later everything was organised and captain Kalli stood ready to bring them out on a private adventure on board our boat Aþena.
At 13:30 they left harbour and entered Skjálfandi Bay, which showed itself from its best side with perfect conditions. They headed west towards the mountains, aiming for the famous "Fish Rock" which is known as a place where you are likely to see whales and birds. It was a good choice; in that area they found their first two humpback whales. Soon they had spotted three other ones.
It turned out to be a great tour with five humpbacks in good weather. Captain Kalli called this beautiful January tour "amazing" and said his passengers were just as happy with their experience.
Even though our official schedule does not start until April, you are most welcome with suggestions on tailor made tours and special arrangements (on board our boat Aþena) also during off-season.
