HAPPY BEING BACK

As I have never been to Húsavík this early in the year, I was really excited about the opportunity to go here already now and start the season for Gentle Giants.

I was waiting with bated breath for my journey towards Iceland. During the last months I have been looking forward to the moment when I will return to that lovely island in the north. Arriving with boundless joy, it was just impressive what I got to see. Húsavík is covered with plenty of snow, giving the small town a peculiar charm.

Though, we have been quite unlucky the past two days, as the weather got very stormy. Wind, fog and blowing snow made it impossible for us to go out whale watching as planned for the first time of the season on the 15th. However, as typical for Iceland, weather conditions change really fast and during the last hours it has got better and better rapidly.

We have been busy lately preparing Faldur, one of the oak boats, to start the season and finally it seems as if we will be able to go out tomorrow, the 17th, for the first time of the year. None of us can wait to find out, which whales are staying in Skjálfandi Bay at the moment and what the first trip will be like. Besides, the current weather is promising a fascinating boat trip along a beautiful winter landscape.
