WATCHING BIG WHALES FEED

The conditions have been dreamlike today! Both our regular whale watching tours and the Big Whale Safari have experienced numerous humpbacks and minkes feeding close to the mountains on the other side of the bay. We, and a group of dolphins, watched them enjoy the seafood buffet.

We can often see water stream out on the sides of the whales' mouths when they sieve the food from the sea through the baleens. One humpback even clapped its jaws together above the surface several times, right next to us. The Spanish man who really wanted good photos of flukes got more than enough of chances.

Even though this is my sixth season at Gentle Giants, I still get just as excited during encounters like those we had today. During the rest of the year I live on those amazing moments. Would you like to experience it too...?

The powerful exhales of the humpbacks make us gasp for our breaths.
