LIFE THROUGH A LENS

Life Through a Lens is the brilliant name of a travel-, photogaphy and writing company owned by the freelance photographer Marcus Westberg and his wife Kate (who are working with National Geographic among others). The other day they came whale watching with us.

Together they travel near and far, "dedicated to exploring and sharing the natural and cultural wonders of the world through writing and photography, and in doing so inspiring people to make conscious choices when travelling".

They write on TripAdvisor about their experience with Gentle Giants:

"We went out with GG twice about a week ago - once on one of the bigger boats, and once on the smaller zodiak. Friendly and infomrative guides and captains on both trips.

Both experiences were great, albeit different. The bigger boat has more of an atmosphere about it, and it is of course easier to move around. But we definitely preferred the zodiak - especially for photography. It was a bit choppy, so our stomachs were turning a bit, but its smaller size and greater speed made it possible to get much closer to the whales.

We saw blue whales on both trips, but were then treated to a spectacular show by a humpback whale when we went out with the smaller boat - it jumped at least fifteen or twenty times, perhaps more, including once perhaps ten metres from the boat. An absolutely unforgettable experience!"
