ORCAS ENCOUNTERED THIS MORNING

A group of orcas was encountered on the 9:45 tour today. Our guide Þröstur estimated that they were around 15-20 individuals. “It was difficult to count them, there were dorsal fins everywhere!” he said.

The one who spots orcas during a tour from Húsavík is very lucky. These black and white Wolves of the Sea are only seen a few times a year in our waters, and then usually only during one tour as they take a round in our bay and then move on. So also today…

Both passengers and crew got great views of the beautiful animals as they showed themselves well. Þröstur described the morning tour as “absolutely spectacular”.

You never know when leaving the harbour what you will see, where, when or how - if anything at all. Every trip is a new adventure and no two tours are the same. This is what makes whale watching so exciting. Come and try your luck with us!
