BUSY BUT FUN DAYS BY GG
At lot is going on by Gentle Giants these days. We feel how the season is getting more and more busy - as it should - which is a lot of fun!
During the last days, except for our scheduled departures with great whale sightings, we have had several extra- and tailor made tours going on.
Yesterday:
- People who were going for a class reunion got a ride with us over to Flatey Island.
- In the afternoon a group of Norwegian wedding guests enjoyed an hour’s fun trip on both our RIBs at the same time.
- Simultaneously a sea-angling tour with a group of Russians left Húsavík harbour with rods ready. Soon after, they had caught their own dinner with assistance from our captain and guide.
Today:
- Researchers from North East Iceland Nature Center got a ride to Grímsey Island on board RIB Amma Kibba.
- A bird enthusiast and a church specialist went together to Flatey Island on board RIB Amma Sigga.
Despite all these tours, the Gentle Giants crew managed to squeeze in a rescue drill in the crack of dawn the other day, before the town had woken up and our departures started. Always safety first!
Fortunately we have also been very lucky with the whales lately. They have been many and entertaining. This morning when I guided the 9:45 tour we saw two beautiful humpback whales (whereof one was jumping and flipper slapping) and a magnificent blue whale close up.
We are having a great time here. Welcome to join us!

The photos below show some of the exercises we did during our rescue drill two days ago.
Pétur (captain) teaches a concentrated Karitas (guide) how to steer the boat in case of emergency.
Miriam (guide) rescues an "unconscious" Sarah (also guide).
