THE PRESUMPTIVE HYBRID IS BACK
Since a week the so-called Hybrid is back in our bay. Most likely that whale is a crossbreed of a fin and a blue whale. So far there is not much known about that animal. During its last stay in our bay (June 2014) researchers from Húsavík took an sample of its skin to find out more about this whale’s parents.
The same whale had been here already the past years as well as earlier this season. Staying in the outer parts of the bay, especially the speedboats were able to reach and watch it several times these days. As the whale is having a broken dorsal fin it's possible to determine him as the same individual as the past times.
