KILLER WHALES IN THE BAY
„Killer whales, killer whales, killer whales“, was what Belén, one of our guides, shouted into the phone when the Ticket Center was calling to ask for news about the 09:45 tour on our oak boat Sylvía.
Killer whales are seldom visitors in Skjálfandibay. Therefore, the reason for Belén's excitement is obvious. Just at the very moment, passengers and crew are able to get some close-up views onto these fascinating animals, which are currently staying next to the boat. Killer whales are usually spotted in groups – so called pods – and right now there seem to be at least ten individuals in the bay not too far away from the harbor.
