BLUE WHALES AND HUMPBACKS DAILY
The past days of whale watching continued successful: Blue Whales keep on showing up daily, often several of them in the same areas.
The other day we got to see two blue whales and some humpbacks feeding near to each other. It happened on the last tour of the day, it was almost time for the midnight sun. And in the beautiful evening light whale after whale showed up on the completely calm surface, and – to top all up – one after one was lifting the fluke – over and over again.
Today, some blue whales have been coming far into the bay and close to the mountainside. Surely passengers could get amazing photos of the largest animal on earth with the stunning Cheek Mountains in the background.
Later in the afternoon, 4 blue whales were seen together by our RIB Amma Sigga.
Besides that, the humpbacks are also hanging out in the bay. Some of them are for themselves, others swim in groups. As before they still seem to be very busy with feeding, what is truly a spectacle that every nature lover should see.
Today, the cruise ship of "Iceland ProCruises" has arrived to Flatey for the second time. Passengers got to enjoy a calm and summerly day out on the island. Also for bird lovers the excursion was a great success: Loads of different birds showed up throughout the visitors' stay.
