THE HYBRID AND SOME HUNGRY GENTLE HUMPBACKS

Already in the early morning the hybrid welcomed us on our oak boat Faldur. For a long time the whale surfaced in our nearer surrounding, sometimes getting really close to the boat. Close to the hybrid swam a humpback whale, resting on the calm surface. For quite a while we were the only ones around and enjoyed the silence. There was no noise but the blows of the whales which surfaced in a frequent pattern.

Later the day the humpback was joined by a second individual and short after, both started to feed side by side. They were breaking the surface again and again, their mouths filled up with food.

Also the hybrid was still in the same area as the other whales. Its huge blow could be seen from far. Behaving rather calm and relaxed, it approached our boats several times.

There was no need to move the boat as they were surfacing just around us.

A huge group of arctic terns followed the whales in order to catch the leftovers.

Passengers got the greatest views one could ever get of these huge animals.
