BLESS BLESS CUTE PUFFINS!
A few hundred thousands of you already left around the 20th of August, but luckily we could enjoy some of you a couple of days longer. Lundey (Puffin Island), your home island is meanwhile empty. We will have to wait for your return until next May.
We got to see you everywhere around, mating, bobbing on the waves, gently taking off, flying around the island, going out from your nest, popping up close to the boats, escaping from the skuas, with fish in your beaks… Obviously, you have done a great job, your chicks are ready to leave their birth place now.
How great it is to think that right now you are flying somewhere in the open waters of the North Atlantic – far out. It is still a mistery how you are able to spend the winter in that rough seas, but you do it over and over again! And what´s even more impressive , how are you able to come back to the same place year after year?
On one hand we are sad you left, but on the other, well, that´s how it goes, right?
Have a safe journey and looking forward to see you back on the island next spring!
