SUN, MOUNTAINS AND WHALES
As the forecast predicted the weather has been constantly getting better. Already yesterday evening the sky cleared up and the sunshine blessed us on the last daily departure. At night some northern lights appeared and today started as sunny as yesterday ended. Though it got cloudy later on, the sea calmed down a lot and got pretty smooth towards the evening.
Close to the mountains we found two humpbacks swimming in the same area. Further out, close to Flatey, we found a large pod of dolphins. Many of them were still very young – calves from this summer. They got curious about our boat and swam close up to us. Still behaving rather clumsy when surfacing it was a joy to see these young animals around the boat. Later on, along the mountains again, we found many harbour porpoises which were appearing all over and jumping halfway out of the water.
