TRIPLE FLUKE AND A HUNGRY WHALE
Yesterday plenty of whales were staying in an area nearby the mountains. About ten humpback whales were enjoying the weather by staying on the surface a lot. Three of them could be seen swimming together all day long. Whenever they left for the next dive they lifted their flukes out of the water one after the other. Highlight of our tour was when they all left for a dive fluking synchronously in front of our oak boat Sylvía. Another two were swimming in a pair for some time as well. One of the other humpbacks was apparently very hungry as it was feeding close to the surface. Again and again it broke the surface lying on its side with a widely open mouth, scooping in all the food it could get.
Also today boats sighted about 10 to 12 humpbacks in the bay.
