SEVERAL HUMPBACKS SURFACING TO ALL SIDES OF THE BOAT

Since the beginning of September several humpback whales are staying the bay. Throughout the time they have been in the same area close to the mountains. Whilst some of them come and go, about 4 to 5 seem to be there all the time. Often we can see two or three of them swimming and feeding together.

This morning we had again 4 individuals at the same time. First two of them were travelling together, the other two surfaced nearby - often at the same time as the pair. Many times we saw them popping up to all sides of the boat – one didn’t even know where to look at first. Their loud and powerful breaths sounded from all over. At some point, one of those travelling alone joined the group as well so they started to swim with three next to each other, breathing together, diving together. It was amazing to be surrounded by these wild animals.
