ICELAND PRO CRUISES JOINING OUR WHALE WATCHING TOURS
For the first time this season the cruise ship „Ocean Diamond“, which is operated by Iceland Pro Cruises, has returned to Húsavík.
Not stopping on the beautiful island “Flatey” as last season, the cruise ship’s passengers boarded our boats in Húsavík this time to head out for an exciting whale watching tour in Skjálfandi Bay. All three RIB speed boats as well as our oak boat Faldur departed at 10 o’clock this morning to bring everyone close to the gentle giants of the ocean.
Five humpback whales were awaiting our guests out in the bay, the first one showing up only minutes after the boats had left the harbour for their way to Lundey/Puffin Island, which is the first stop of our “GG2 Big Whale Safari & Puffins”. Uncountable puffins were occupying sea and land, busy as their breeding season is in full swing.
After Lundey our whale watchers got to see the other humpback whales. Multiple times the whales would surface right next to the boat, showing off their whole glorious selves. One of the humpbacks delivered a great and entertaining show as it started to lobtail whilst lying upside down in the water.
