BLUE WHALE BACK IN THE BAY

After a few days of unpleasant weather (which forced us to cancel most of our trips) all our boats departed as scheduled this morning. Passengers had waited for days to finally meet the gentle giants of Skjálfandi Bay! As if Mother Nature knew, they weren’t disappointed at all. Unusual for this time of the year, a giant blue whale made a stop-over in our bay! Probably on its way south to its breeding grounds, the blue decided to have a last snack in Skjálfandi Bay before starting its way into warmer waters, where it will barely find food for the next couple of months! Blue whales are the largest animal which have ever existed on earth, reaching a length of up to 30 metres and weighing about 150 tons!
