THE MID-ATLANTIC STORY 2017
Last week was very busy for our sales team – but also a lot of fun! The annual Icelandair Mid-Atlantic Tradeshow was held in Reykjavík for the 25th time, and Gentle Giants took an active part, both in Húsavík and Reykjavík. Around 850 travel industry professionals participated in the event, coming from all over the world.
It all started on Tuesday 24th January when 14 travel agents from United States joined the pre-tour "Arctic Discoveries", experiencing some of the diamonds of northeast Iceland, including Húsavík. Our team Daniel, Stefán, Sverrir and Hallgrímur welcomed them in one of our workshops, presented our company, invited them on board our RIB boats – and last but not least, treated them to drinks at the "600 hp bar". Later that day, we attended a get-together with the travel agents in Húsavík Whale Museum.
On Thursday 26th January was the official start of Mid-Atlantic. After setting up our booth and preparing for the main day, we headed to Harpa Concert Hall for an opening ceremony with lots of great food and mingling.
Friday 27th January was the big day in Laugardalshöll Sportshall. Our nice and well-located booth was represented by our team members Stefán, Halli, Jóhanna and Daniel. Appointments with tourism and travel specialists started around 09:00 and continued with a steady flow of guests to our booth until 17:00. We proudly introduced GG and our exciting adventures from Húsavík. It was great to meet friends as well as creating new contacts within the tourism industry.
The day ended with a gala evening at Hlíðarendi Sports Arena filled with delicious food, fun entertainment and great company.
All in all, we are very happy with this year’s Mid-Atlantic and are looking forward to the next one in 2018. We would like to give giant thanks to all the guests who visited our booth and in Húsavík, and last but not least, the organisers of Icelandair Mid-Atlantic Tradeshow for the memorable event!
