A PLAY OF LIGHTS AND FLUKES

Whale-wise October has been a great month so far. Our beloved humpback whales are still in the bay - often two or three individuals are seen in the same area near the Cheek Mountains. As the days get colder, one can see their spouts from far: clouds of steam arise from the surface as the whales exhale air. The mountainside itself appears even more picturesque than usual as fresh snow is covering the peaks. As days get shorter, the play of shadow and light is overwhelming. Taking a safari out in Skjálfandi Bay should be on everyone's to-do-list these days!
