MIDNIGHT SUN EXCLUSIVE

Whale lifting tail in front of sunset

There's no best time of the day to watch whales - these magnificent animals are in the bay from early to late. As we're approaching the summer solstice, Gentle Giants Whale Watching is once again starting to offer a "Midnight Sun Exclusive GG2 Big Whale Safari and Puffins" tour on our RIB speed boats starting tomorrow, 16th of June. The tour departs daily at 21:30 enabling and inviting you on a truly magical journey on Skjálfandi Bay in search for whales.

Imagine yourself heading out into the bay as the town is coming to a rest and the sounds of nature are soon all you hear. The boat you sit on travels out on Skjálfandi Bay - towards the setting sun. Soon you're surrounded by puffins that gather by their beloved home Lundey (Puffin Island). After a short stop that allows you to observe these cute little clowns of the sea, the boat continues its journey over the ocean. The first spouts of a whale are soon spotted, the spray of the blow shining in all colours.

As the sky changes colours into yellow, orange and red, you watch a majestic humpback whale lift its flukes out of the water, the burning red sun in the background.

Did you get that shot?

Come and join us and leave Iceland with truly memorable moments to look back at and that you won't forget for a lifetime!
