GENTLE GIANTS THRIVES AT MANNAMÓT AND INAUGURAL WEEK OF TOURISM IN REYKJAVÍK
The inaugural Week of Tourism took place last week in Reykjavík, coinciding with the well-established Mannamót, the Natural Iceland Tourism Workshop, which has become a cornerstone event in Iceland's tourism. Gentle Giants, a regular participant over the years, attended this year's workshop and the accompanying Week of Tourism.
The program featured a series of conferences, presentations, and seminars focusing on various aspects of tourism, including destination development, sustainability, responsible tourism, and technical innovations. Hosted by regional marketing offices throughout the country, the events provided valuable insights and discussions within the tourism sector.
The highlight of the week was the Mannamót workshop on Thursday, where approximately 250 companies from rural areas of Iceland converged to showcase their products and services to industry professionals in the capital region. Throughout the day, our team engaged with a diverse audience, including representatives from tour operators, travel agencies, information centres, hotel staff, government agencies, airline personnel, and tourism students. Notably, the workshop has expanded its reach to attract several international agents, opening up new and exciting opportunities.
Daniel and Hrefna, representing Gentle Giants, took pride in their participation and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere. There was high interest in our tours and especially new ideas for Flatey Island adventures. Mannamót once again proved to be a valuable platform for reconnecting with old friends and establishing new connections, just as the name Mannamót means "gathering of people".
