HEY THERE SEAL!

Someone is checking on us!
Spotting a cute little head out of the water checking on humans is one of the highlights of some tours! Skjálfandi Bay is home to many species and seals are one of them 🦭
One of the places where we normally see them is around a rock close to the mountains, called Fiskisker (fish rock). Around this place, there are many fish, so it is the perfect spot for them to find their daily snack and relax.
The most common species of seal that we spot is the grey seal, which is the species that you can see in the photo. This is an animal that could easily reach 2,5 meters length and weight around 300kg.
Photographs are from our guide Rui Duarte.
