JOB APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR 2025
THE BLUE FAMILY
Gentle Giants is very proud of its staff which unites both local and international people of all ages and various backgrounds. Still, there's at least one thing they all have in common: their passion for whales and their job, whether that's on the boats and at sea or on land.
Many of our crew members return year after year and once re-united, work together with the same aim: striving to give our guests the best experience possible and making every season even better than the last – whilst making memories that will stay with us and everyone who has visited us in Húsavík for a lifetime.
In 2024, the "Blue Family" was composed of nearly 40 enthusiastic staff members from eleven different nationalities – maintenance team, ticket sales, captains, guides, assistants and management.
SEASONAL WORK
Whale watching in Iceland is a seasonal activity: Most of the whale species we encounter in Skjálfandi Bay are migratory and only spending a certain time of the year in the North Atlantic.
Therefore, our whale watch season is from 1st of April until the 30th of November.
As the whales migrate between their feeding grounds around Iceland and their breeding grounds in (sub-)tropical waters, also many of our guides and ticket sales come seasonally and then venture out into the world during off season – or, follow the whales to other destinations until returning back here. You can imagine all the stories told during the summer once everyone comes back to together!
