A SIGN OF SPRING

As the days grow longer and the chill of winter recedes, one of nature’s most charming visitors begins to make its return to various places around Iceland: the puffin.
These iconic seabirds, known for their colourful beaks and oftentimes clumsy appearance, are among the first migratory birds to return to Iceland as spring approaches. Puffins, often referred to as “clowns of the sea,” return to their breeding grounds after having spent months out at sea. Once here, they can be seen at their nesting grounds until sometime mid or late August, before they will venture back to the open ocean.
While our puffin season officially just starts on the 15th of April, these little birds surely have started to arrive early this season and we have been able to spot them on several of our tours these last three days.
Their arrival is a joyful sign that spring has arrived, bringing with it new life, hope, and the promise of brighter days ahead.
So why not stay on the lookout while heading out at sea with us – chances are you’ll be able to spot the so-called ‘little brother of the North” along the way.
