WELCOME BACK GENTLE GIANT

They're baaaaack!
The first humpback whale of the season has been spotted by our RIB speedboats in Skjálfandi Bay this morning!
Every spring, these gentle giants return to Iceland after a long migration from tropical waters. Today’s humpback was a wonderful surprise after days of stormy weather in this area! It was calmly breathing on the surface, diving down for just a few minutes before returning from its dive just metres away from our boats - reminding us all why we love these gentle giants so much.
As the bay comes back to life with migrating marine giants, we are once again reminded of the deep connection between Húsavík, our hometown, and the wild ocean it faces.
Soon, more and more whales should arrive to our bay – are you ready for an ocean adventure? Book your tour here!
Along with the arrival of the humpback, also our puffin season has officially started and Lundey (Puffin Island) is crowded by these cute clowns of the sea by now.
As the month proceeds and the town and bay are coming to life, we have added more daily departures for both our favourite whale watching tours:
🗓 “GG1 Whale Watching” on our traditional oak boats departs at 09:45, 13:15
🗓 “GG2 Big Whale Safari & Puffins” on our modern RIB speedboats departs at 09:30, 12:30, 15:00
📍 Húsavík, Iceland
Welcome back, gentle giants. Here’s to a season full of wonder.
