ANSWERING THE OCEAN

At Gentle Giants, we are proud of our big blue family, an enthusiastic international team coming together annually striving to give our guests the best experience possible.
While many of us have been part of this family for several years now, we're just as excited to welcome new members to our team.
"It’s funny how life slowly pushes you toward the place you’re meant to be — sometimes you end up there without even realizing it.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the sea. I could spend hours just watching the waves, swimming, jumping from cliffs, or wondering what lived beneath the surface. That love only grew stronger over the years.
At one point, I took a gap year to travel and explore the world. That’s when everything changed. I discovered scuba diving, and with it, a whole new world opened up. I fell in love with marine life — the colours, the silence underwater, but most of all with the feeling of being part of something bigger.
In 2023, I came across an opportunity to work in Iceland, guiding tours to see whales. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The idea stuck with me and kept growing stronger. This wild, remote island, with its breathtaking landscapes and incredible wildlife, was calling me. The fact of even thinking about working with whales was making me smile.
By 2025, I knew I had to follow that feeling. I left my job in Barcelona and took a leap, hoping to find work as a whale watching guide in Iceland. It felt like a risk, but also like the most natural decision I could make. And it was totally worth it!
And now, here I am—working as a guide for Gentle Giants, seeing whales almost every day, surrounded by some of the most stunning nature on Earth. It still feels unreal sometimes. But it also feels exactly right!
I followed the sea, and it led me to Húsavík.
Now I’m part of the Gentle Giants family, and I could not be happier: working and being with people from all over the world with something very special in common, the love for these amazing creatures."
WELCOME TO THE BLUE FAMILY, CARLA!
