TWO TOURS, ONE INCREDIBLE BAY - WHICH ADVENTURE IS YOURS?
Ready, set, go… in just a few days, we’ll be heading into Skjálfandi Bay again to explore the magic of this beautiful bay and its amazing inhabitants!
Still thinking about joining? We’ll bet there’s one big question on your mind: Which tour is right for you?
Here are our two most popular tours:
GG1 Whale Watching – a classic whale watching tour on our traditional Icelandic oak boats
GG2 Big Whale Safari & Puffins – an exciting adventure on our modern RIB speedboats
Both tours offer excellent whale watching opportunities, and our experienced crew ensures a safe and memorable experience on either option.
The key difference between the tours is the type of boat, which determines the overall style of the ride.
GG1 Whale Watching: The Húsavík traditional tour on our oak boats – the classic tour.
- Larger, traditional wooden boat
- Slower and more relaxed ride
- Approx. 3 hours
- One can walk around freely throughout the tour and observe the animals from different angles or sit back and enjoy the ride.
GG2 Big Whale Safari & Puffins: A whale watching tour on our RIB speedboats also including a visit to Puffin Island during the breeding season (April 15th - August 15th approximately) – for more excitement.
- Much faster ride
- These boats can travel farther in a shorter amount of time and cover more area in search for whales if needed. Possible, but not guaranteed, more sightings – wildlife dependant!
- Approx. 2 hours
- Everyone is seated in individual seats throughout the tour and enjoys the sightings from a close-to-sea-level perspective.
- More intimate experience due to smaller group size (max. 12 passengers per boat)
- More stable on the water than oak boats, ideal for those prone to motion sickness
