JOB APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR 2027
Join the Gentle Giants "Blue Family"
We’re excited to announce that applications for the 2027 season are now open!
But first, let us tell you a little about our team and what we do:
At Gentle Giants, we’re incredibly proud of our diverse team of local and international staff, bringing together different backgrounds and experiences through one shared passion: whales and the ocean.
Whether out at sea or working behind the scenes on land, every team member plays an important role, bringing passion, dedication, and enthusiasm to what they do.
Many of our crew return season after season, coming together with a shared goal: to create unforgettable whale-watching experiences for our guests, keep improving, and make lasting memories for everyone involved — both our visitors and our team here in Húsavík.
In 2026, our “Blue Family” included over 40 enthusiastic team members representing 12 different nationalities — from captains and guides to ticket sales, assistants, maintenance, and management.
SEASONAL WORK
Whale watching in Iceland is a seasonal adventure. Most of the whale species in Skjálfandi Bay are migratory, spending only part of the year in the North Atlantic. That’s why our whale watching season runs from April 1st to November 30th.
Just as whales migrate between their feeding grounds in Iceland and their breeding areas in subtropical waters, many of our team members follow a seasonal rhythm of their own. They return to Húsavík each year, and some even follow the whales to other destinations during the winter months. When we reunite for a new season, we bring with us new experiences, adventures, and stories to share — creating new connections and bringing us even closer together.
